2nd Grade Put on a Spectacular Circus Program!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls I hope you spent the evening under the "big-tent" to watch 2nd Grade's production of Circus Circus! The audience certainly was in for a treat with creative costumes, big smiles, funny dialog, and circus tunes sprinkled throughout. Check out photos of what I call-organized chaos!

Welcome back :)

Hope everyone had an awesome summer of recharging and fun-filled family time! I know I did & I'm ready for the 2014-2015 school year. We have some very exciting things planned for music-upcoming programs for each grade, a few music field trips in the works, new Composer of the Months, more Recorder Karate, & so much more! Stay tuned for pictures from programs, music game websites, & other fun stuff.

Standing Ovation for 2nd Grade!!

2nd Grade performed their music program, Too Much Noise! to lots of applause and smiles on February 6th! Despite snow days and sickness, they put on a wonderful show full of music, movement, instruments, and animal noises. Hopefully, Too Much Noise! helped the audience remember to be thankful for what they have and that things can always be worse :)

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

     2nd grade has been busy with a mini-unit all about KITES! We started off by listening to and learning about the song "Let's Go Fly a Kite" from the musical Mary Poppins. We discussed the composers who wrote the music and spent time learning this fun melody. We then used our newly learned music concepts: time signatures and note durations (quarter, eighth, and half notes) to create our own compositions. What better way to show them off than to make our own kites?! We wrapped up the week by "flying" our kites to the beat while singing "Let's Go Fly a Kite".
